Sunshine
When a star dies it expands. Our sun is your typical star, smaller even. The spot the earth ended up in put us in the perfect position to harbor life, not too hot, not too cold. What luck! The part that I think is funny is that people assume that this fine space real estate could last forever. Our sun is expanding and in the next billion years or so (or sometime sooner) it will grow bigger and cook our oceans and burn everything that sits on the surface of the earth. I’m pretty sure that mankind will figure out someway to wipe each other out far far far before that could become a realistic worry on our timeline. But still it darkens my days in Mexico when I sit on the beach with my sol and my goat cheese nachos gathering tan and staring at skimpily clothed broads thinking, all these people enjoying the very death of our planet with great big smiles. I guess it’s really similar to waiting for an asteroid to come plow into us and cause tidal waves and mayhem. It’s just these things that we refuse to think about to maintain our silly illusions of happiness, but what else can we do, we have to live and a fruitful and productive life, that is why we are here
