The Blackstone Group was founded by Steve and Peter Peterson as a business extending premium investment advice and private-equity. The company has gone from strength to strength and is now a globally renowned specialist in M & A. Living for most of childhood and adolescence in Pennsylvania, Steve attended school in the Abingdon school district. When he graduated from high school he decided to study at the highly respected Yale University and was awarded his bachelor’s degree in 1969. He then selected a master’s degree at the renowned Harvard Business school near Boston, MA. Then he joined with Lehman Brothers investment bank, based in NYC. By the very young age of thirty-one, he was already one of their managing directors. Steve Schwarzman offered his services as an assistant professor at the elevated Yale School of Management as well as giving financial support to a number of charities, educational programs, and the arts. Furthermore, he is the latest Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the JFK Center for the Performing Arts. On top of all that, he told the public in Spring of 2008 that he had bequeathed 100 million dollars to the New York Public Library to help them expand their capacity. He is also one of the trustees of the library. As you’d expect Stephen A. Schwarzman is now one of America’s elite - last year he was described amongst Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People on the planet in acknowledgement of his world-wide influence on business and finance. His quick rise in the business and financial industries is nothing short of miraculous, not to mention the fact that his support of music and the liberal arts has undoubtedly inspired the business community at large.
